Banking the Aloha way.

Kaua’i Federal Credit Union

How does a credit union that’s been operating since the late 1940’s, reposition itself to be more integral to the community it serves?

Kaua‘i Federal Credit Union, established in 1947, partnered with Evolve to modernize its brand and deepen its connection to the island it serves. Formerly known as Kaua‘i Government Employees Federal Credit Union, we collaborated with the co-op on a strategic name simplification and a comprehensive brand refresh to better reflect its community roots and future ambitions.

The rebrand spanned every touchpoint—from digital platforms and debit cards to branch environments and community materials—all designed to express the island’s identity and values. A campaign titled “Easier to say, easier to bank.” introduced both the simplified name and upgraded banking systems, signaling ease and progress for members old and new.

Drawing from Kaua‘i’s natural beauty and cultural legacy, the visual identity blends local symbolism with modern design, balancing emotional continuity for long-time members with renewed energy for a broader audience.

The transformation positioned Kaua‘i FCU not just as a financial institution, but as an economic catalyst. Today, they are leading the development of a local Economic Resiliency Center — a hub for community education, entrepreneurship, and sustainable financing.

In a market dominated by mainland banks, Kaua‘i FCU stands apart by reinvesting in local people and place. The brand refresh is more than aesthetics—it’s a vehicle for impact, community ownership, and long-term island resilience.
